The Middle Ages Tripod
The Middle Ages Tripod - Project developed by Atelier Varadinum.
The gothic style is one of the artistic and architectural styles specific to the Middle Ages. The architecture of Gothic cathedrals is an architecture of light it floods the interior space through generous rosettes and windows, enhancing the spiritual experience. In a similar way this installation uses light, except that its route is changed. The object is the one that reflects or generates the light outward to the viewer. Its surfaces are generated using motifs borrowed from the Gothic cathedrals, of wich we can name: Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Amiens and the Dome of Milan.
This installation is made of aluminum plates 2mm thick, cut with water jet. The resulting elements are combined in the form of three polyhedral structures derived from the regular polyhedra. Each of the three structures has eleven flat faces with motifs used to decorate Gothic cathedrals. They are hinged together forming a stable tripod frame.
